Jameson School Library Media Center is a positive, child-centered, information-rich environment which encourages inquiry, discovery, and life-long learning. The staff of the library believes in enhancing the school's curriculum, teaching information literacy, and first and foremost, promoting the enjoyment of reading.
Our media center is the focus of Jameson School, and it is a very busy place! Each class visits the library on a weekly basis. During this time students listen to stories and learn about using the library. Students also have a daily Open Library time where they are encouraged to explore the library on their own. Jameson Library has about 7,000 volumes which include easy fiction, fiction, non-fiction, and reference books. We have an extensive video collection which focuses on the school's curriculum. Also included in the collection are a wide-variety of teacher and student periodicals. We are especially proud of our new mini-computer lab where students can view interactive storybooks, use our word processing program and search for information on the Internet. All our books and videos can be found through our new automated card catalogue which may be accessed from our computers in the library and from our classrooms.
